Odoo 15 BOM

The list of components or raw materials needed to make a product is known as a bill of materials. Manufacturers typically create a bill of materials prior to beginning the manufacturing process. Instructions on how to put the parts together are frequently included in the bill of materials. There are various ways to manufacture the same product, thus you can create multiple bills of material for it. To maintain precision in manufacturing, it is essential to create an exact list of the raw materials used to make a product. The Bill of Materials, or BOM, is, in a nutshell, the core component of any manufacturing operation. The Bill of Materials (BOM) creation platform in Odoo 15 is specifically designed for your manufacturing and sales processes.

This article will discuss how to create a Bill of Materials in Odoo 15.

You can set up the matching product in your database and the Bill of Material setup before starting the production process. From the Odoo main dashboard, select the Manufacturing module. You can configure the product and enter the information needed for its manufacture in the Product Configuration window. Since we will be manufacturing this product, you can select Manufacture as the Route of Operations under the Inventory tab.

The smart button for customizing the Bill of Materials for this specific product will be provided on the screen, as you can see in the image above. From this window, you can create a Bill of Material, or you can choose the corresponding choice from the Products menu.

The Bills of Material menu contains a list of all previously created Bills of Materials. When you click the Create button in this area, a new Bill of Materials creation window will open.

In the relevant boxes, you can enter the name of the Product and its Variant. In the Quantity field, specify how many total units of the product you intend to produce using this bill of materials. In the appropriate fields, mention the Reference and the Company. Three different forms of Bills of Materials, including Manufacturing this Product, Kit, and Subcontracting, can be created here.
You can create the described product using the materials listed in this specific Bill of Materials by selecting the Manufacture this Product option. You can offer the product as a kit if you choose the Kit option. It is possible to designate a subcontractor to create certain parts of the product listed in the Bill of Materials by using the subcontracting option. This blog post will examine the development of a BoM for producing a specific good.

Here, a BoM for the product Table is being created. Using the Add a Line button under the Components tab, the components needed to construct the table can be set up. This tab will display the name of the component, quantity, and product unit of measurement.

Under the Operations tab, you can set the Operations to run on several workstations. You can specify each step needed to finish making the Table by using the Add a Line button.

Using the matching option under this tab, previous operations can be copied. When you click the Add a Line button, a new pop-up window like the one below will emerge where you may enter the operations' specifics. Here, the components must be put together to create the finished result, a table. As a result, you can design an operation for putting the parts together.

After providing the Operation's title, you can choose an appropriate Work Center. Based on the sequence of operations, the Sequence Order will be shown on the screen. If you wish to carry out this operation on the variants as well, you can specify the variants of the chosen product. The length of the process can be calculated manually or using tracked time. On this window, you can see the company name. You can add information about the worksheet under the WorkSheet tab in the form of a PDF, Google Slide, or text. Select the Save & Close option after filling out the necessary information.
After the production process, byproducts can occasionally be created. In these circumstances, you can use the Add a Line button on the BoM window to add the list of By-products beneath the relevant tab.

Be sure to enable the By-Products field found in the Manufacturing module's Settings menu if you want to see this tab in your BoM configuration window.

The Miscellaneous tab seen in the BoM window allows for the definition of the specifics of various operations.

When to begin the manufacturing operations can be specified using the Manufacturing Readiness field. When all components are available or When components for the first operation are available are the two options you have to choose from in this field. In the first scenario, production won't begin until all of the necessary parts are on hand. The operations will halt in this scenario until the components are restocked. However, in the second scenario, production won't begin until there are enough parts to carry out the initial set of tasks.
Flexible Consumption will specify whether it is acceptable for you to consume fewer or more components than those listed in the product's BoM. Depending on your company's policy, you can change it to Allowed, Allowed with Warning, or Blocked. You can enter the Analytic Account in the provided fields along with the Operation. The cost, revenues, and other financial management data related to the manufacturing order will be recorded in this analytical account.
Once all fields in the BoM box have been filled out, select Save. You can now build a new production order in the Manufacturing module using this BoM. The relevant Manufacturing Order will be created in your database automatically after you save the new BoM, as illustrated in the image below.

As stated in the Work Orders tab, you can begin the production processes one at a time.
