Odoo Inventory Management Overview

Inventory Management or control is the most important aspect of any business. In order to run a successful business, you'll need proper inventory management support. The inventory management solution we use can determine our company's fate.

Odoo is one of the greatest inventory management platforms available, and it can be used without any investment in implementation, customization, or integration, ensuring corporate success. Odoo inventory module has been designed to work with all types of businesses and sectors. Regardless of the size of their company, business organizations can use this technology. Odoo Inventory can be a foundation of strength for a business because it is a flexible module that plays a vital role in handling all inventory-related operations.

This module can be used in collaboration with other Odoo modules as well as third-party applications. Sales, Manufacturing, Purchase, eCommerce, and other Odoo modules may be fully connected with the Inventory module. Odoo Inventory aids in the coordination of all inventory-related operations such as delivery, replenishment, batch transfer, landed cost management, scrap management, product and product variant management, serial number and barcode usage, warehouse analysis, inventory report generation, inventory valuation, and so on.

This blog will assist us in getting a better understanding of the Odoo Inventory Module.

First, let's figure out how to put it to use.

The Inventory Module must be downloaded from the app store.

We can now enter the module when the installation is complete. Overview is the name of the module's dashboard. This page provides us with a high-level overview of the module.
This overview page gives us an idea of the many operation patterns that the module can do. We can see several types of processes in the figure above, such as receipts, internal transfers, Pick, Delivery Orders, Manufacturing, PoS Orders, Dropship, and so on. For the warehouse, operation types are created. Based on these operation kinds, we may set up rules for our routes.
We don't need to configure the operation type in the Overview page because it's already set up. We can, however, make changes to these.
When we click on the settings, we may see configuration options. We'll be transported to the Inventory Overview page if we click Configuration.
From here, we can edit the operation type, code, and barcode, among other things. This configuration page also allows us to adjust the traceability, locations, and IoT.
Let's have a look at what these different operation kinds mean. We can see the Kanban view of the inventory overview, as well as the operation type and the number of operation kinds that need to be processed, here. We can see that there are 4 receipts to process, 1 pick up to process, and 9 delivery orders to handle in the graphic below. There are no internal transfers to process at the same time.
The details of the operation types in waiting, late, and the quantity of backorders can also be found.
Let's look at the Delivery order type as an example. We have 9 delivery orders to process right now. Five delivery orders are pending, 13 are late, and four are backordered.
By clicking the three dots on the right side of Delivery Orders, I was able to get the above settings. There are several View options available here, including All, Ready, and Waiting. Let's see what we can find if we click All.

Now when we choose Waiting
We receive the delivery orders that are awaiting execution.
When the Ready option is selected, all ready delivery orders will be listed.
We can find quick transfer and planned transfer beneath New. When we select Immediate transfer, we are taken to this page.
We can arrange the quick transfer and confirm the procedure from here. If necessary, we can also move the objects to the scrap location.
Planned Transfer: This option is also available, and it will assist us in carrying out the transfer in a planned manner by allowing us to schedule the operation.
Then we have the option of changing the operation type's color.
The different colors make it easier to distinguish between the different types. Configuration has already been completed.
Are these the only accessible operation types? No, because some of the operation types have been archived. We can go to filter and click Archived to see the ones that have been archived.
These are the archived operation types.
Pack, Pick Components, Store Finished Product, and Subcontracting are all available options.
What is the purpose of archiving these types? Some operation types are archived by the system based on the warehouse configuration type. We can check this by selecting the warehouse option from the Configuration menu.

Clicking configuration we get a new page

Let's go ahead and open this page.
Under Warehouse Configuration, we can discover segments like Shipments and Resupply.
Incoming and outgoing shipments can be found under Shipments.
More information can be found by using the Edit button.
  
We can find possibilities such as receiving products immediately here. This is the incoming shipping route that we have chosen. That is, it is a one-step procedure. Instead, we have the option of receiving products in input and subsequently stocking them. It's a two-step procedure that requires several operation kinds. If we go with the third choice, we'll get items first, then quality, and then stock. It's a three-step process with more operation kinds to come. The preconfigured operation types that are no longer needed as a result of this selection will be archived.
Options for outgoing shipments include:
The first alternative, which is a one-step process, is to deliver things directly. The second alternative is to deliver a two-step procedure by sending products in output. The third alternative is to pack the items, ship them to the output, and then deliver them in three stages. process.
Let's see what occurs now that we've selected the third step for receiving packages and the third option for outgoing packages. The overview page will then show a new operation type that has been created. The operation type Store Finished Product can also be found.
The overview above was shown when we chose the first choice for incoming shipment, and the overview below was given when we chose the third option.
