Odoo Invoicing Module for Saudi Arabia (eInvoicing)

The way people used to do business has changed as a result of technological advancements. This is especially true for companies that serve worldwide markets and have a big customer base. Business transformation with the technology used to be solely about adopting automation, and people didn't look at it from an efficiency standpoint. However, the situation has changed dramatically. Automating any business activity is now a must, since failing to do so may unwittingly drag your company back into such fierce competition. When it comes to corporate automation, technological advancements have aided organizations in their search for numerous choices. To put it another way, technology adoption isn't just for automation; it also helps organizations obtain a competitive advantage through increased efficiency.
The accounting and invoicing processes are no exception when it comes to becoming automated. So, going the extra mile, we've developed several invoicing solutions that enable us to bill our customers using existing technology frameworks. It has a number of benefits, the most important of which is that it makes invoicing simple and paperless.
This article goes on to discuss one of the Odoo framework-based solutions, in which a customer can either pay from a link or learn about the invoiced amount by scanning the QR code issued by the system. E-invoicing is a market-leading initiative, and technology product firms have advanced it by providing the methods by which we now invoice our clients electronically.

Saudi Arabia's Odoo E-Invoicing

In continuation of the introduction to this post, we have a solution for the Saudi Arabia market that answers the demand for E-Invoicing. This is an add-on to Odoo's Sales & Invoicing modules that provides some additional functionality to allow a vendor to electronically invoice their clients. Let's have a look at how the solution works and how it aids in the creation of electronic invoices.

What is the benefit of e-invoicing?

Accounting and invoicing are two of the many business procedures that need to be governed in every type of firm. There have been numerous loopholes and process gaps where fraudulent activity has occurred. Not only is enterprise-level technology required, but it is also necessary to oversee the actions of the many divisions. As it turns out, having a set of uniform rules and regulations for billing your consumers was a huge help. The Saudi Arabian Zakat, Tex, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has issued this regulation and is preparing to begin the implementation of e-Invoicing for VAT-registered sellers. Sellers must be equipped with E-Invoicing systems in the first phase, which begins on December 4th and ends on December 21st, and must conduct the invoicing process according to ZATCA's standards. Businesses that have previously implemented systems will be asked to integrate their invoicing systems with the ZATCA's site for centralized governance and compliance in the second phase of this roll-out (scheduled to begin in January 2023).
As a result, system integrators for such a large-scale eInvoicing roll-out will need to create it in accordance with the authority's specifications, and it will need to be highly integrated with the governing authorities' / ZATCA's system/portal.

The goal is to entirely eliminate the process that can lower the risk of fraud within any firm. Also, a scanned or photocopy of the invoice will not be regarded as an E-Invoice, and credit/debit notes should be included in the same document that is an eInvoice. The ZATCA regulations are met by our Odoo eInvoicing module.
The system's functional flow begins with the creation of a Sale Order. This clearly indicates that we will proceed to prepare the invoice and send it to the customer. That is through the invoicing system's common flow, but in our case, the solution is more prepared in such a manner that the system respects all of the prescribed E-Invoicing norms and generates the QR Code on the invoice. It also allows us to add Credit/Debit cards.
Let's take a visual tour of the process and see how the system works. We'll show you a series of screenshots from the Odoo E-Invoicing system in action for the Saudi market.
By heading to Settings -> Companies, we can configure the Tax ID.

Generating an Invoice
We'll create an invoice after we confirm the Sale Order. When you confirm the invoice, specific E-Invoicing features will be activated/visible. A few things will change as a result of this. This will generate a QR code that can be scanned in a new Tab called "QR Code." We may also get the invoice printed with the QR Code by going to Print -> Invoice.

Generating a QR code
The option to manually produce the QR Code is always available. In a confirmed Invoice, this code will also be displayed in a different tab.

When we print the Confirmed Invoice, it looks like this. We can either share the invoice by navigating to Actions -> Generate Payment Link and create a payment link. However, the QR code must be printed on the invoice, so the file will look like this after printing the validated invoice.

Finally, after scanning the QR Code generated by the system, the customer will see what follows.
